FAQ

  • What are the differences between “OEM”, “Aftermarket”, and “LKQ” parts?

    • “OEM”, or “Original Equipment Manufacturer” is the producer of your vehicle’s factory parts. This means that if you choose to use factory parts, they will be OEM parts.
    • “Aftermarket” is a term that describes any part by any manufacturer other than the original factory. These parts look identical to factory parts and are often less expensive.
    • “LKQ” stands for “Like Kind and Quality”. Although used, these parts come from the same type of vehicle, are often factory parts, and tend to be the cheapest option.
  • What is a betterment?

Betterment is the percentage of use that you got out of a particular part on your vehicle prior to the claim. This applies to struts, shocks, ball joints, tires and batteries.

  • Why is there a large difference between the various bids for repair?

This can be due to many factors. Be sure that you request an itemized estimate that shows labor hours, repair hours, parts, paint, and material. Know what type of parts you are getting (OEM, Aftermarket, or LKQ), as the difference in cost can be quite dramatic. Labor cost differs from one shop to the next. Some companies low-ball the initial labor estimate to gain business, only to tack on surprise charges later. Rest assured that our estimate will be honest and fair, and we try to stay as close to the estimated cost as possible.

  • How long do estimates normally take?

The process to create an estimate normally takes 20-30 minutes. To ensure the quickest response time, please make an online appointment or call us at (801) 266-7791.

  • How long will my repair take?

Every repair is different, but many repairs can be repaired within a week. As part of your estimate, we will provide an estimated completion date. Please note that more complex repairs may take longer than a week to complete.

  • Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes! We work directly with insurance companies, providing a stress-free experience for you.

  • Do I have to go where the insurance company tells me?

No, you do not! This is called “steering” and is illegal. Most people aren’t aware that they, the person who pays that insurance company, reserve the right to take their car anywhere they want to for repairs. All you have to do is tell them to bring it to JP’s and then let us take it from there for you. No hassle. Less stress. No problem.

  • What is my deductible, and who do I pay it to?

Your deductible is the portion that you, the insured party, are responsible for during repairs. You will pay the amount listed on your premium to us and then your insurance company will send us a check for the remainder of the costs.

  • Do you offer a warranty?

Yes, we offer a lifetime warranty on all workmanship done to your car. Please give us a call for any additional questions on our warranty.
